What is acne?
Acne is a disease of the sebaceous glands of the skin. Occurs when the follicle (duct) of a sebaceous gland of the skin is blocked and unable to release the grasitud that carries dead skin cells to the surface, swells and may even become infected. As a result, the boils are red with a white or yellow dot in the center. Generally associated with adolescence and is often caused by those hormones that are released during puberty.

Can my baby have acne?
Yes, acne usually appears in babies born or a few weeks of life. Frequent outbreaks in the cheeks, but also on the forehead, chin or back of the baby. Usually worse if a fever, if you are nervous, or cry if your skin is irritated. The most common irritants include saliva, regurgitation of milk, soap and clothing to be washed with detergents, harsh chemicals.
If you notice that your baby has tiny grains in her face and can not be sudamina acne. These small grains will disappear in a few weeks alone.
If the appearance is scaly and occurs in other parts of the body like the scalp and behind your ears, your baby may have milk crust. However, if your baby shows a stain-like eruption may have atopic dermatitis.

What are the conditions that cause?
No definitive conclusions on this subject but, in addition to hereditary factors, it is believed that, like acne in adolescence, the baby acne is caused by hormonal changes, certain medications or skin irritation.
If you and your baby lovers are taking any medication, it could be the cause or if your baby is taking some medicine.
Maternal hormones passed to the baby through the umbilical cord during late pregnancy might also be the cause of baby acne. The same applies if your baby's skin comes into contact with substances such as oils derived from petroleum.

Can hurt or annoy you?
Acne will affect you more to you than your baby, as it did not itch or hurt at all. Plus the baby is too small to realize that does not look as nice with these granites! Most likely your baby's acne uncomfortable to you by an aesthetic problem. However, in those severe cases of acne, inflammation and swelling may occur that can bother him. Contact your doctor if you see that this may be the picture it presents.

When will disappear?
Baby acne usually goes away within a few weeks but can last up to 6 months. We recommend you still see a pediatrician if your baby's acne is particularly severe, or persists after 3 months.
But if the acne occurs between 6 months and 2 years of age will require a consultation with the pediatrician in preventing its onset at puberty.

What is the treatment?
Treating baby acne is more about what you should not do that you have to do. First you should not tighten the granites and further exacerbating the problem. Nor rub or wash heavily your baby's skin as this will only cause further irritation to your skin. Laval face with water and a little mild soap, neutral pH and without fragrance. If your child has sensitive skin, just wash your face with warm water.
Avoid applying moisturizing lotions or oils on the skin as these products will increase and consequently grasitud acne. Use natural soaps and rinses to wash cloth to their clothes.
But remember that acne is often a condition that heals spontaneously with no need to worry, however always consult a pediatrician.
